CHL Shooting Proficiency





To qualify for a Concealed Handgun License (CHL), you must demonstrate your handgun proficiency by completing a shooting course of fire.

Course of fire

3 yards - 20 rounds
  • 1 round in 2 seconds, 5 times
  • 2 rounds in 3 seconds, 5 times
  • 5 rounds in 10 seconds
7 yards - 20 rounds
  • 5 rounds in 10 seconds
  • 2 rounds in 4 seconds
  • 3 rounds in 6 seconds
  • 1 round in 3 seconds, 5 times
  • 5 rounds in 15 seconds
15 yards - 10 rounds
  • 2 rounds in 6 seconds
  • 3 rounds in 9 seconds
  • 5 rounds in 15 seconds

Scoring

  • 5 points - X, 10, 9, 8 rings
  • 4 points - 7 ring
  • 3 points - within silhouette outside 7 ring

  • 250 points possible (50 rounds x 5 points)
  • 175 points required (70% x 250)
